Bedroom Closet Organizing (part 4)

If you haven't been cleaning out your closet, or even inspired to yet....let me inspire you more! Go back to part 1, part 2, part 3 and some of the inspirational pictures.  You must have your closet at least worked on a little bit - even if you give it just 15 minutes a day, work on weeding out all the stuff you don't really need in there.

Mom said it..."Make your bed"

Yep, Mom always told us to make our beds.  We're just going to sleep there again tonight, so why should I bother?  It takes so much work and effort to make it, too!  Well, she was right - MAKE YOUR BED.  Make it everyday!

Weekend inspiration: Flowers and pretty things

Just wanted to show some pretty things in my garden that have been blooming.  I love living in Southern California, as we have flowers blooming much of the year.  It is also quite hot here and our deck is VERY hot in the summer.  I had to finally give up on putting pretty flowers on the deck because I was watering twice a day in the heat.  No fun!  So, I started growing succulents.  I water them once a week!  Oh, is that ever so nice!  I also have a beautiful bougenvilla tree that is pretty heat tolerant and has beautiful blooms.  So, enjoy!

Bedroom Closet Clean up (part 3) - Simple tricks to fit more in your closet

So, have you done it?  Have you started cleaning out your bedroom clothes closet?  Have you found stuff you forgot was there?  Let me encourage you, don't be tempted to keep the stuff you forgot you had!  If you haven't noticed it was gone or forgot about it altogether, that's a good indication that you really didn't need it!

Here are a few tips that I have to help you actually organize your closet.

Cool website and tool...

I found this really neat website a few months ago.  It's called Cozi and it's a family organizing calendar.  What's unique about it is that you can use the website from the internet anywhere, it also syncs up to your existing Outlook calendar, and you can even access your shopping list from your cell phone -either you can have it call you to tell you what's on your list or if you have internet you can access it.  I have been finding it quite useful!
 

Bedroom Closet Clean up (part 2)

So, I had a little excursion to my favorite store!  Yep, The Container Store.  It's a world of organizing bins and systems and gadgets....my dream!  I went there because I'm honestly having a little dilemma in my husband's closet and wanted to see if I could solve the dilemma. 

What's for dinner?

 What's for dinner?  It's a funny thing that we ask ourselves (or get asked) pretty much everyday.  I had the privilege of growing up with a Mom who (to this day) would sit down weekly and plan a menu for dinner for the next week. 

Father's Day Gift....

My husband is the BEST, really!  He just up and decided that he wanted to put in another electrical box outside our family room area on the deck.

I love this closet because it's typical of an entry closet.  But, notice that they cut the pole in half and added shelving and then hooks on the back of the closet door.  Over the door hooks

Hooked on Hooks!

So, I'm looking around my house while I was cleaning and thought - "hey, I've got a lot of stuff on hooks!"  So, I guess, without even realizing it, I've really come to rely on hooks!  Let me show you:

It's Birthday time, you know what that means, right?

When either our son or daughter has a birthday coming, that means it's time to clean out and clear out!  

Weekend inspiration in the garden

Well, here is some more from my parents' house.  My mom's garden is beautiful!  I grew up in San Jose, CA but my parents moved down to Santa Maria in 2000 and have created an equally beautiful garden there!  I grew up with a good sized yard - for California - where my mom had a beautiful rose garden, a shed covered in a climbing rose, a gazebo that my dad built just before my sister had her wedding reception, and a gorgeous wood deck off the back patio with a roof covered in wisteria!  So, when they moved to Santa Maria, they basically had to start all over again.  Well, they've done it!  Here are some pictures to prove it!

Here is the view out their back window onto their u-shaped patio - in Santa Maria they get winds every afternoon, cold winds.  So the u-shaped patio helps to buffer that cold each day.

Field Trip in organization

So, I went to visit my parents in Santa Maria this past weekend.  I am going to share some of my mom's organization of their home over the next few days.  Just a few neat ideas I spotted.  And later this week I'll share her BEAUTIFUL garden!  

Clutter, clutter, clutter

Clutter....it's a very scary word!  It's one of those words that we all know what it is, even kids know!  We all have it in our houses, too!  Everyone has at least one area, AT LEAST - where clutter lurks.  It's not that clutter is so bad, it's just annoying. Well, for most of us it's annoying.
