How I organize my kitchen: My drawers

Kate, from Centsational Girl, is having a link up of favorite kitchen gadgets. My favorite kitchen gadgets are organized in a nice drawer! I love my apple corer, whisk, and my pizza cutter best!!

Under my sink, my table, my pantry, meal planning {from Ask Anna}, and now I'm showing you my drawers.  My kitchen was very tiny.  Last summer, we knocked down a wall and updated our kitchen.

However, we didn't add any extra cabinets or put new ones in.  We simply just improved the room.  When we moved in, one of the major problems with our kitchen was the lack of drawers in there.  So, when we bought the house in 2006, we got this great set of drawers at Ikea {sorry, it's no longer available}.

Yes, LOTS of drawer space. And fun to accessorize on top of it, too!

Here is what I've done inside the drawers:

My top drawer holds pretty table linens

Next drawer hold batteries, spare camera, chalk, and other misc. items {battery organizer here}.

Simple mason jars are great for holding chalk and other small items

My utensil drawer - I USE everything in here. I cleared out the stuff I didn't use.

The most used drawer by the kids and I.

Towels, aprons, and oven mitts.

The bottom drawer holds all my leftover lids, organized by size.

And, lastly, I've updated a little bit in the kitchen since I last showed you. I moved this small buffet table from our living room into the kitchen under the decal and added celery green parsons chair to flank each side.

Small changes, evolving taste!

Highlighting something personal

I love blogging!  It's something I am finding more enjoyable all the time.  One of the things I love most about it is discovering and making new friends!  Another is telling everyone about my new friends!

How YOU organize your meal planning

I received an email from Anna, from Ask Anna.  She did a post on organizing your meal planning, which I briefly did many moons ago....but, hers is much more detailed and a great help to all of you who just don't plan your meals. Here's what she said to me:

"I think that meal planning is hugely important to being an organized mom because at the end of the day everyone needs dinner and if you don't know what you have on hand it can be an extremely stressful and frustrating."

How I organize my kitchen: The pantry

When we first looked at our house in 2006, we walked in and the kitchen looked small. The house was in a great location, it was bigger than we expected, but the kitchen was small.  However, there was a hidden jewel in this kitchen that I didn't realize until we actually moved in.  It was our pantry.  I'd never had a real pantry before.  Here is what it looked like when my hubby took pictures at our walk-through:

When is the last time you were hospitable?

Last week I told you about a great book I read recently called The Reluctant Entertainer by Sandy Coughlin.  What's interesting is that since I last wrote about it, I actually have "talked" {via email} with Sandy a few times.  She seems like a charming and sweet gal! I hope to one day meet her in person - since I actually visit her state quite often with my hubby, it's possible...

How I organize my kitchen...under my sink

If you've ever tried to tackle organizing, it's best to do it one little bit at a time!  That's what I do...and what I always recommend to ladies who come to me asking for advice to getting their whole house organized.  Start small and then keep that newly organized place up a little bit each day.  You'll find that sometimes your space isn't working how you wanted it to, but that's alright.  Here's what I did when I could see there was a problem under my sink.

Just lovely, isn't it?
